About the Speakers

Melissa Carrera
Alumni & Donor Relations Director
NOLS - the National Outdoor Leadership School

Melissa directs donor and alumni relations, and communications on the NOLS advancement team. She oversees the implementation and execution of programs related to recognition, engagement, events, stewardship, and gift administration for alumni, donors, and friends who support the organization in a variety of ways. She earned her BS in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University and an MA in Education from the University of Phoenix. Melissa grew up in and around the Denver metro area and has lived all over the state, from the mountains of Summit County to Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, landing finally two miles from campus in Denver. You'll find her soaking up the sun while accessing some of the best trails Colorado has to offer. She enjoys yoga, mountain biking, most any class on the Peloton app, reading, hiking, raptor watching, comedy shows, and live music. If she's ever missing, please search the deserts of Utah, she'll be lounging on a rock taking in the red rock views.
