About the Session

With a mix of strategy and tactics, theory and philosophy, art and science, and a touch of stand-up comedy, this survey of stewardship writing – or Donor Communications 101 – covers some of the basic theory and concepts of stewardship writing. As a bonus, you’ll learn some ways to find your stewardship muse and get inspired to thank, recognize and report to your donors.

Having worked in advancement for more than 30 years, mostly in higher education, Debbie honed her editorial skills by writing countless acknowledgments, talking points, proposals, gift agreements, and impact reports. Today, she lives to write and teach others how to find joy and inspiration in their writing.

Beyond writing, she created or enhanced operations, communications, donor relations, and stewardship programs at several universities, a Catholic high school, an art museum and a health center development office.

An ADRP founding board member, she chaired the 2011international conference and has a consecutive streak of presenting at every ADRP international conference.
