About the Session

We will share the steps we took to build a principal gift program with a goal of activating 80 individual plans based out of our centralized services but developed around the concept of enhanced partnership with frontline fundraisers, donor-centered strategies and a custom stewardship experience for our benefactors. We will share our wins, lessons learned, ideas for how to make it scalable, along with what is on the horizon for our program.

About the Speakers

Brittney Braydich
Executive Director, Philanthropy
Kent State University

Brittney Braydich currently serves as executive director of Philanthropy for the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement. In this role, she serves Kent State University as the chief principal gifts strategist, providing leadership and direction for the principal gifts program, which focuses on activities and strategies that engage individuals or organizations with the capacity to make transformative investments in the university. She also leads planned giving, supervises college-based philanthropic advisors, and manages external partnerships that drive Kent State's corporate engagement strategy. Brittney began fundraising for the American Cancer Society, worked in Alumni Relations at Miami University, Ohio Wesleyan University, and Kent State University, and served as a frontline fundraiser for Hiram College and Kent State University before stepping into her current role. Brittney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel, both from Kent State.


Alicia Gaffney
Director, Donor and Volunteer
Kent State University

Alicia Gaffney currently serves as director of Donor and Volunteer Engagement for the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement. In this role, Alicia serves Kent State University as a member of the principal gifts team, providing leadership and execution of donor relations special initiatives and liaising with the Kent State Foundation Board and National Alumni Board of Directors related to board recruitment and onboarding. Alicia began her Kent State career with Intercollegiate Athletics in 2002 and joined the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement team in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance and Marketing, from Ashland University, and a Master of Arts in Sport Administration from Kent State University.
